My name is Bob Browder. Music is a long-time source of comfort, inspiration, and joy for me. The guitar is my first instrument. I started playing as a teenager and have been loving it ever since. I also play claw-hammer banjo and old-time fiddle. All-in-all, I’ve been playing for over thirty years now! I started setting up and repairing stringed instruments shortly after I started playing.

I have a life-long fascination with sound. My love of music stems from this love of sound. Sound and music happen in the present moment. Living in the moment yields a wide variety of very special experiences. Music is a wonderful way to to connect with the here and now.
A Passion for Sharing Music
I’ve been playing guitar for over 30 years. I’ve also been playing clawhammer banjo and old-time fiddle for more than 20 years. Sharing music is one of my favorite things to do!
A Love of Stringed Instruments
I started building my own instruments more than 20 years ago. I’m pleased to offer set up and repair for guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, and other stringed instruments. Whether your instrument just needs a little tweak or something more involved, I’d be pleased to discuss it with you.
I apprenticed in banjo building with Mac Traynham for about four years. During that time we composed a short book about making banjos in the small shop, BanjoCraft. I continue to build banjos. My recent banjo work can be found over on the Thumpy Banjos website.
Like any contemporary creative, my work rests on a foundation prepared by those who have come before me. I send out my gratitude to all those who have supported me in my experiment of learning about music and sound through the creative process. I also send out my gratitude to the innumerable people of the past who have given time and energy from their lives to make music an enduring vehicle for self-expression, community building, comfort, and in the moment experiences.
